In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
It’s not easy not to notice that it’s September 11th today. It is. On September 11th the twin towers were attacked. This happened exactly 14 years ago. With some imagination the number 11 could be interpreted as two towers standing next to each other. The two iconic buildings of New York, America and the business world at whole were destroyed by a couple of young men with a ‘mission from God’, from Osama bin Laden actually, who saw himself as the leader of an Islamic A-Team set out to defend the helpless in the muslim world, by performing suicide & taking with them a load of totally innocent people minding their own businesses.
The plan was not really mindboggling genius. Osama himself was a well-travelled man and might have visited New York on an occasion of times, whilst noticing the planes getting really close to Manhattan. The treasure case of the US without doubt. And the Twin Towers were the crown jewels. "This is the weak side of the ‘enemy’" - he might have thought. The only thing left for him was to rally up some Muslim ‘Rambo’s’ who were dumb enough to think they will go to heaven if they kill innocent people, and voila he makes his mark into the history books. Something to pump up the pride of a Saudi man who as a child was rejected by his own family members. And his name wouldn’t be blemished in the Muslim world, because he was a knight, a jihadist fighting for Allah’s cause. That’s what al Qaradawi, noted founder of the International Union of Muslim Scholars would say anyway. Al Qaradawi up until now remains unchallenged in the Muslim world. No Muslim scholar of any mayor importance has offered any substantial criticism on his sayings. Even self proclaimed ‘modern muslim’ Tariq Ramadan remains painfully silent about his mentor’s statements. So for those who like to follow ‘scholars’ like al-Qaradawi there will always be an ‘Islamic’ way to kill innocent people to find a place in heaven where they can have sex all day long with a myriad of virgin sex bombs.
Thank God Islam doesn’t tell us to follow imams like al Qaradawi blindly. Al Qaradawi should be taken away from the microphone, let alone be paid for it and broadcasted on Al Jazeera (the arab version of CNN). And ‘hero’s’ with daddy issues and a lot of money on their hands should try to find solace in true Islam and not the terror Islam of al Qaradawi. True Islam needs a real A-Team (Allah's Team). In fact we need millions of A-Teams. Jihad is standing up for what is right, for righteousness, humanity, love, and compassion. The world needs us. We Muslims comprise 25 percent of the world’s population. Imagine what would happen if we all decided to become vegan. Imagine what would happen if we all decided to give peace a chance. Imagine what would happen if we all decided to create our personal A-Teams to clean our cities, clothe the homeless, send a poor kid to university. The possibilities are endless. The 9-11 attacks killed a lot of innocent people, but it didn’t free Palestine or the Arab world. It made everything worse. The attacks on Iraq and Afghanistan were a direct consequence of 9-11. What have we learned from this ? Well, violence reaps violence, that’s what we learned. So true jihad can never be violent. True jihad is about having true power, not the power to destroy others. True power in Islam comes from one thing: wisdom.
And if all the trees on earth were pens and the ocean (were ink), with seven oceans behind it to add to its (supply), yet would not the words of Allah be exhausted (in the writing): for Allah is Exalted in Power, full of Wisdom.
The holy Quran Surah 31:27
Now Allah leaves straying those whom He pleases and guides whom He pleases: and He is exalted in power, full of Wisdom.
The holy Quran Surah 14:4
Thus doth (He) send inspiration to thee as (He did) to those before thee,- Allah, Exalted in Power, Full of Wisdom.
The holy Quran Surah 42:3
By Allah's will they routed them; and David slew Goliath; and Allah gave him power and wisdom and taught him whatever (else) He willed.
Verse 2:251
Note how power is connected to wisdom in the Quran. It is mentioned hundreds of times in different types of Surah’s (verses). So having true power is connected to having true wisdom and surely killing innocent people should not be classified as something that is ‘wise’ or righteous. It is the exact opposite of wisdom. This goes without saying (I hope).
Then what is wise ? What should Muslims who want to be a hero like Osama do ?
If I could give Osama some advise (if he was alive) I would tell him the following:
So you want to be a hero, an Idol, a knight, a jihadi. You want your name to be chronicled as the defender of Islam. That can be done, you have the $$, which is always handy, but doesn’t mean much on a wisdom scale. Wisdom is not following charlatans like al-Qaradawi for example. He and his family are well fed and sit safely around the dinner table while sending disciples like you out to kill everything he pleases. Don’t be someone’s bitch. Be a man, a hu-man and think for yourself. Allah has given you brains to reason and to seek knowledge and wisdom. You could have done amazing things. You could have helped the poor, given funds for girls to study, you could have helped Palestinians to get unity and their voice heard, you could stage sit-inns, send out an Islamic love boat to feed the children of Africa. You could have helped in creating jobs. You could have been a true knight. Filling people with hope and happiness all around the world when they see your face. I know you could have done this, but you didn’t. You chose the dark side and many have chosen it after you. Your example has been followed by men who want to reach a second of fame, even if it isn’t for the right reasons. Muslims like you have become like idols-participants. They make video’s, set out booby traps, bombs, kill people and film it. Islam has become a joke. The world looks at our religion with disgust. And we started out so heroically. We brought science to the world. We brought the love of philosophy, maths, and science to the world. But something happened: we stopped thinking.
We literally stopped thinking and started following the al-Qaradawi’s of the world. We go by authority without questioning. We treat our women like shit. We pollute our streets and our conversations are numbed down. There is no wonder anymore. No yearning for wisdom. We pretend to know everything, because everything is chewed for us. Would you enjoy it if Al-Qaradawi chewed your food for you ? Or would you be disgusted by it and opt to chew it yourself ? I hope you would choose the latter. So if we cannot do this with our food, why are we letting others chew our thinking for us ? For the Arab world to become great again we first of all need our knights to be healthy. We need hero’s to look up to. Hero’s to see in the news who bring positive tidings. I am open for this to become a reality. I am open to live up to witness an Arab world that is back into business. Back into our greatness and power. But all of that cannot happen without wisdom, which is the true power of the Universe: Allah. So let's create A-teams all over the Arab world. Let's get it and get it right.
